MENS DAY TOURNAMENT 5/7/ 2020
This years Mens day tournament took place on Sunday 5th July at Beechcroft. The weather although overcast stayed mostly dry and the turn out was one of the best we’ve seen for a while. Some great doubles games were played and the winners with four wins and 24 points were Oscar and Jat! Congratulations guys!
ADULT CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP DRAW 2020
With Mens Day 2020 approaching this Sunday (5/7/20) at Beechcroft the adult club championship draw is announced;
Thankfully the weather improved from Fridays downfall and the ladies were able to dodge the odd shower and play their matches. It was very close with a three way tie on four wins. Margaret and Marie were the overall winners as they had won more games. Well done to all who took part!
After Pauls recent email maybe not surprisingly there was a large proportion of you wishing to do something, if not to simply kick a ball again or just to catch up with friends.
As a result, I have put together an interim lockdown walking football program that will be Covid-19 aware and will be restricted to only 5 participants, as per the current government restrictions. These sessions will be with Nell and will focus on relaxed drills/ball work at £5 pay and play. I have tried to pick sessions to try to accommodate as many as possible in varied timeslots under the restrictions we currently face. This is what I have come up with initially, on a trial basis, obviously this can change depending on demand and then we’ll see how it goes.
Please note, I’m pleased to report that Beechcroft fencing is now complete so I am able to offer sessions at both sites.
MONDAY at SOLIHULL 3 sessions 11:00 – 12:00, 12:15 – 13:15, 13:30 – 14:30.
MONDAY at SOLIHULL 2 sessions 19:00 – 20:00, 20:10 – 21:10, (LADIES ONLY)
MONDAY at BEECHCROFT 1 session 20:30 – 21:30.
TUESDAY at BEECHCROFT 3 sessions 11:00 – 12:00, 12:15 – 13:15, 13:30 – 14:30.
WEDNESDAY at SOLIHULL 3 Sessions 11:00 – 12:00, 12:15 – 13:15, 13:30 – 14:30.
THURSDAY at BEECHCROFT 4 sessions 10:00 – 11:00, 11:15 – 12:15, 12:30 – 13:30, 19:00 – 20:00.
FRIDAY at BEECHCROFT 3 Sessions 11:00 – 12:00, 12:15 – 13:15, 13:30 – 14:30.
FRIDAY at BEECHCROFT 1 session 19:30 – 20:30, (LADIES ONLY)
FRIDAY at SOLIHULL 1 Session 19:00 – 20:00
All these proposed sessions will commence from Monday 22nd June.
Now, there is only one fair way to determine who comes to the sessions and that is in the shape of a booking system. Since last week we have been busy setting up a booking system, that does almost everything we need it to do, so therefore if you want to book on any of the sessions above you will need to set yourself up and use our booking system using the following link…. https://bookwhen.com/mpsports … we understand that this will not suit everyone but we really do not have any other solution but it does bring us up to date somewhat. It may be a good time to acquaint yourself with this system as me may continue with it when we are back to normal or when we are eased further out of the lockdown by the Government. As I said earlier, groups are restricted to a maximum of 5 but also a minimum of 4 if we do not get 4 or more then the session MAY be cancelled.
Couple of points to note on the booking system, you only have to enter all your details on your first booking, set a password for ease of future use. There is a waiting list option if one of the sessions are full. It is therefore imperative that you cancel a booking if you can’t make it so someone on the waiting list is invited. You can cancel a booking via the email you would have received when you booked on originally. We will be noting people that book and do not turn up!! I attach a sheet with all the booking help links if you have any questions.
The clubhouses will not be accessible to any players other than to use the toilet and all players are asked not to turn up to early for the group and to leave when finished. Again, we are adhering to the current restrictions so we would also ask for players not come to watch sessions that they are not booked into.
Obviously this has all proved to be a bit of a logistical nightmare but we feel it is important to provide some sort of service if only to help those feeling the strain of these rather strange times! Please bear with us if certain things need amending or correcting.

NEW COURT BOOKING SYSTEM
From Tuesday 26/5/20 Beechcrofts new court booking system for tennis court bookings is operational.
Please note you can only book your courts on the hour and until further notice bookings must be from 5pm – 10pm week nights and 9am – 10pm weekends. Courts are booked in 1 hour slots. Once the fencing work is completed some daytime weekday slots will be available to members as well.
Here is a step by step guide to booking.
Firstly use this link to get you directly to the booking clubspark page for beechcroft where you will see the timetable CLUBSPARK
Once you are on this page you will need to log in with your LTA account if you have one if not please set one up it doesn’t take much time at all. If you do not want to do this you can use Facebook login.
Once in, you just click on the day/time and court number and book. You then have a couple of tick boxes then you should be done. Once booked you will be able to see your booking on the calender. You can book your court on your laptop or phone and you can also download booker by downloading this from your app store. If you type in clubspark in the app store you will see the booker app.
We have also added on the calender social singles Wednesdays all 3 courts 7pm – 9pm & Sundays 1pm – 3pm.
Great news, from Saturday 16th May we will be opening Beechcroft TC for tennis use only, Senior members with a key will be granted access and be allowed to bring 1 other person from outside the household or more if it is same family members. We have attached the LTA guidelines and we ask you to read them thoroughly before you start using the club.
Tennis Court usage/court bookings/building work (fencing)
We are expecting a high demand for use of the courts over the coming days and weeks. With this in mind, all courts must be booked in advance through Matthew Corp on mobile: 07930164811. This will avoid crowds of people and disappointment if the court is already in use. If you would like to be part of the court booking WhatsApp group again please contact Matt.
From next Monday 18th May for up to 3 weeks the club will be out of use between the hours of 9.00am -4.30pm Monday – Friday (not including weekends) this is because the club is having a brand new state of the art fencing system. We will also unfortunately be down to 1 court booking (1 hour maximum duration) for most of this time, regular updates will be posted as this changes. Once the fencing system is finished we will be back to more courts and more week day usage.
We understand this is frustrating as we start to come out of some form of lock down but this work must be completed to save on future disruption to the club. The work had started, as planned, prior to lock down but unfortunately the contractors had to halt the works due to the virus.
Tennis Balls & Equipment
We will not be providing any social tennis balls in the club and we are now asking any members to bring, and take home, their own balls and any equipment, to reduce risk of infection.
We will however have tennis balls outside the pavilion from this Saturday which you may help yourselves to and take 1 tin per person.
Please make sure you bring your own tennis rackets and please make sure you collect all your tennis balls at the end of your court time, thank you.
Use of clubhouse
All group sessions are cancelled in all sports with no exceptions (Indoor/Outdoor)
As per the latest Government guidelines the clubhouse is closed and is not to be used for any sport in any circumstances. That includes table tennis, irrespective of how many people go to play.
However, we are classed as a ‘private outdoor safe space’ so therefore one 2 one coaching will now resume in a controlled environment (Contact Matt for private tennis bookings)
With regards to this controlled environment we are allowing use of the courts at Beechcroft, via prior booking only, with the following restrictions.
* Only 2 people per court (up to 4 if direct family members living together).
* As previously stated no access to clubhouse (other than to retrieve key for courts, toilet access & washing your hands)
* Bring your own refreshments
* Due to the current ever-changing picture there is a maximum advanced booking time of 24 hours.
* Evening bookings would require players to pay a charge for floodlights (£6 per hour .. £1 coins inserted into machines inside clubhouse)
Court bookings are free to members but would be subject to the same floodlight charges in the evening.
If a member brings a non-member then there will be £4 booking fee for the non member.
Contact Matt on 07930164811 to book your court.
TO REITERATE: All attendance at the club needs to be authorised and must be pre-booked.
We have had a number of kind offers for financial support during this time and we are very appreciative of these kind gestures. What we would like to ask is that people just renew their membership, or join the club if you are not already a member. We understand that it may be a while before we can get up and running properly but our bills will not cease and the club purely runs on your membership support. I thank all those that have renewed their membership so far.
Any questions on membership or to renew contact Lucy on 07956687546 or email email@example.com
Finally, I would just like to show my support as Chairman of Beechcroft on saying that I strongly believe we will all come out of this stronger as a club and I honestly think some good will have come from this lock down including appreciating the freedom we are all so use to and just maybe we will all enjoy our sports and socialising just that little bit more.
It is with regret we have to inform you that in line with current government guidelines we have had to close Beechcroft sports club for the foreseeable future while we as a country deal with COVID 19 crisis. We will continue to inform you of developments /re openings when Government / sports associations allow. Please follow us on our blog, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for updates.
